Helen M. Zeroka, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021. She was born and raised in Plymouth, PA and was the daughter of the late Eva and George Plitnik. Helen graduated from Plymouth HS in 1948.
Helen married her high school sweetheart, Mike in 1951, and became a proud Marine Corp wife at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. In 1955, Helen and Mike moved to Chester, PA to continue raising a family. In 1968, they moved to Delaware and she started working at the former Bank of Delaware, now PNC. She began as a bank teller and worked her way up to assistant manager of several branches, retiring in 1992.
During this time, Helen was also a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church where she was on the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Finance Committee of the Parish Council. After retirement, she was a member of the Junior Board at St. Francis Hospital, The Red Hat Society, and she followed her husband as a member of the Blue Hen Touchdown Club for 20 years. Helen loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved her roses, decorating her house for Christmas and baking many tins of Christmas cookies. Along with this she enjoyed making and painting ceramics. Helen was incredibly determined and strong of character, battling and surviving cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years Michael, Jr.; three children, Michael J. (Denise), Richard (Nancy), and JoAnne Lynch (Jerome); seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a brother, George Plitnik (Verna).
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24, from 10-11 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
