Elkton- Kathryn “Kathy” Mahoney of Elkton, MD, born in 1948, passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 18th. Kathy grew up on East 35th street in north eastern Wilmington and was a graduate of Brown Vocational High School, class of ‘66. She spent the latter half of her life in the Woodcrest Shores community located in Cecil County.
\ Kathy devoted her life to being a hairstylist and business owner of her own salon in the Stanton/Newport area for almost 60 years. She was beloved by all of her customers, some of which she had for more than 50 years. Always the life of the party, Kathy had a love for boating, going to the beach, and going on cruises. Some of her fondest memories were spent down at their beach place in Rehoboth Shores, catching crabs and clams by the dozens. She had a passion for gardening, crafting, and cooking that she loved to share with others. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her fur babies.
\ Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Steven and Eleanor Rulon. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James “Jim” Mahoney; her son, Brian; her daughter, Lindsay and granddaughter’s Isobel and Mia. She is also survived by her brother, Steven Rulon, Jr. (spouse Ginny Rulon) and sister, Patricia Gail DeGregoriis (spouse Emil DeGregoriis). A visitation will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808) on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 2pm.
