Carol S. Hessler passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 28, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. She was 86 years old.
A Wilmington native, Carol attended Temple University and worked at Sears Roebuck and Company before dedicating herself to raising her children. Later in life she worked as an event planner at The Four Seasons and Park Hyatt hotels in Washington, D.C., and the Whitford Country Club in Exton, PA. Carol was a dedicated volunteer with the Mental Health Association of Delaware and the American Diabetes Foundation, where she was awarded volunteer of the year. In recent years, Carol took great pleasure in hosting Chinese exchange students in her home and leading tours of historic Philadelphia.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, prominent Wilmington attorney, Bernard Hessler, Jr. She is survived by her children, Carol Anne and Richard Hessler; four grandchildren; and her brothers, Richard and Robert Snyder.
Services will be held on November 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Green Hill Presbyterian Church (3112 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807). Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).
