Anderson, W. Kirk

Wilmington - W. Kirk Anderson, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 24, 2021.

He was born in Lincoln, NE and was the son of the late Walter and Frances (Gifford) Anderson. Kirk graduated from Elkton HS in 1962, and then received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Delaware in 1969. He retired from the State of Delaware’s Bank Commissioner Office as the Chief Examiner in 2009 after 39 years.

Kirk enjoyed many things in his free time. He was a member of SPEBSQSA, and his Barbershop singing career of more than 40 years included singing with numerous quartets, the Wilmington Chorus of the Brandywine and Brothers in Harmony Chorus in NJ. Kirk also enjoyed competing and traveling internationally with the barbershoppers. His was also a member of the choir at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. When he wasn’t singing, Kirk also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing solitaire, watching sports and making friends wherever he went. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Kirk is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandy, 3 children, Jennifer Davison (Sam), Kimberly, and Matthew (Linsey); 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Charlotte and Cooper (Anderson) and Ellee (Davison) and siblings Woody (Diane) and Steve (Tollie). All of whom will miss his wit, charm sense of humor, and those blue eyes.

A celebration of life for Kirk will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 11 am at Aldersgate UMC, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be held privately. Masks are required in the church.
