Kerrigan, Barry E.

We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand–and melting like a snowflake… FRANCIS BACON

Barry Kerrigan, 71, of Gilbert, Arizona, formerly of Newark, DE., passed away at his home on September 30, 2021. He fought ALS with courage and grace.

Barry was born in West Chester Pa and grew up in Wilmington, DE. Barry graduated from Thomas McKean High School, Embry Riddle University and University of Delaware (BS Mechanical Engineering). He retired from Orbital Sciences Corporation after a very successful career as a propulsion engineer working on rocket motors and launch vehicles.

Barry traveled the world across his lifetime- he always said that doing the research and planning was just as much fun as the trips themselves. He was a private pilot and enjoyed Sunday mornings flying around Arizona. Barry never hesitated to help any animal in need and personally helped many across his lifetime.

He is survived by his loving family- Rita Kerrigan, brothers Cary (Nancy) and Alan (Gaile), nephews David and Michael (Lisa), nieces Kristi and Lauren, and two great nieces (Emily, Gillian), as well as many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 15, at 1pm and friends are welcome to visit with the family at noon at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington 19808. Burial will be private.

Flowers are welcome or the family requests any donations be made to the Friends for Life Animal Rescue, Gilbert, Arizona.https://azfriends.org/support/donate/.
