Scully, O. Doris

O. Doris Scully, age 88, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer Disease on Monday, September 6th, 2021.

Doris is the daughter of the late Onufrey and Mary Macey. She was the seventh of eight children and grew up in Wilmington, where she met her husband, Charles Scully, when she was 13 years old. Doris is an alumnus of Wilmington Highschool, where she took business courses. Her first job out of high school was as an Executive Secretary for the DuPont Company. From there she worked in Child Protective Services for the State of Delaware. She also enjoyed working at Sears part -time, and she was always coming home with something new for the house.

Doris enjoyed spending time with her late husband Chalie. They had a yearly vegetable garden, growing tomatoes, string beans, peppers, and squash. After retirement she and Charles were lucky enough to spend time traveling with family and friends. Miami, the Hoover Damn in Las Vegas, and visiting Pearl Harbor in Hawaii were highlights for them. They loved going to Notre Dame football games. Many trips were made to Atlantic City and Delaware Park. Known as “mom mom” to her grandchildren, she enjoyed family summer vacations to Ocean City New Jersey. Doris enjoyed dancing; her specialty was the Jitterbug. She loved music and with Chalie saw many of their favorite artists and were always excited to see Neil Diamond. Doris and Chalie were active members of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church, participating in bazaars, making pyrohy, and helping with church maintenance.

Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Colleen Terranova (Mike Terranova) of Oxford, PA, and Carole Sheehy of Chadds Ford, PA, and five grandchildren, Malory Terranova-McGovern (Jeb), Aim Terranova, Anthony Terranova (Michelle), Jack Sheehy and Will Sheehy.

Doris is preceded in death by her brothers Mikey, Max, Nicky and Johnny Macey and her sisters Annie Goodley, Katie Kraszewski, and Mary Crystal..

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1406 Philadelphia Pike on Friday, September 10th from 10:15-11:00. Funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers , donations in memory of O. D. Scully may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, (Alz.org).
