Barbara B Armstrong, age 85, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on September 2, 2021. Barbara was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Collingdale, PA.
Barbara attended Collingdale High School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Widener University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration She retired from Delmarva Power after 18 years of service. She was a trained Biblical Counselor and counseled for many years. She also taught piano and organ for several years. She played organ and piano for many years at Faith Baptist Church in Brookhaven, PA and at Grace Bible Fellowship in Wallingford, PA. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Wilmington, where she played the organ for concerts, and served as a Deaconess and counsellor. She also volunteered with Word of Life Local Church Ministries.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill”, four sons, James (Kathryn), Jeffrey (Maureen), William (Jessica), Robert (Jennifer), and two daughters, Claire, and Linda (Dan), 12 grandchildren, James, Jr., Stephanie (Jay), Candice, Valerie, William VI “Alex”, Melissa (Lawrence), Timothy (Alyssa), Kimberly (Ethan), Audrey, Mishaela, Brandon, and Juliana, a sister, Claire, and a brother, John “Jack” (Jennifer). Barbara was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Jeffrey, to Cancer.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 10 AM until Noon at Bethel Baptist Church, 1217 Wilson Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 followed by a “Celebration of Life Service for Barbara Armstrong”. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service. Interment will be private.
