Sheridan W. Young, age 78, died on August 8, 2021, in Winchester, VA. She was born in Wilmington, DE on November 13, 1942, to Laurence and Dorothy Wadman, Sr. Sheri lived most of her life in Wilmington, DE before moving to Strasburg, VA in 2015 to be near her niece, Mary Ellen Hackett (Joe) of Wardensville, WV.
Sheri retired from the DuPont Company, worked for the Brandywine School District and as a caregiver for Home Instead. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church and most recently attended Restoration Fellowship Church. She was a past Grand Guardian of Delaware, International Order of Job’s Daughters and was a member of Brandywine Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star. Sheri always made an effort to include everyone she was around and loved people. She played the piano and often spent her time playing in local nursing homes for church services. She was an avid reader and could often be found with a book.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Laurence Wadman, Jr. and H. Kennedy Wadman. Surviving are son, Jeff Eldridge (Keith West) of Quincy, MA, daughter Kristie Howie of Wilmington, DE, grandchildren, Megan (Keith Hastings) Merritt and James Merritt of Wilmington, DE, sisters-in-law, Joan Wadman of Milford, DE and Lois Wadman of Vestal, NY and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Restoration Fellowship Church’s Playground Fund, 2128 John Marshall Hwy, Strasburg, VA 22657, or Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 Poplar St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 13 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808) from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
