Hoard, Charles "Chaz" Jr.

Wilmington – Charles “Chaz” Hoard, Jr., age 30, passed suddenly at home.

Chaz graduated from Cab Calloway School of the Arts. He enjoyed various forms of painting and dance. Upon graduating, Chaz pursued further education at American University in Washington, D.C., then later at the University of Delaware. Politically active, Chaz assisted with various campaigns, including those of former Governor Jack Markell and the late Beau Biden. He also enjoyed cooking healthy dishes and was an avid lover of steak. Chaz enjoyed helping others and worked as a health aide. He was a kindhearted individual and a friend to all. People most appreciated his light-hearted nature, sense of humor, and intelligence. Chaz had a passion for learning and experiencing what the world has to offer—especially through traveling. He traveled to various places such as Italy, France, and Germany. Chaz was particularly drawn to both Spain and New York. He could often be found at Longwood Gardens, where he knew peace.

Chaz is survived by his mother, AnnMarie Giacomini, who was his favorite person to spend time with; his father, Charles Hoard, Sr.; his sister and her husband, Ashley and Jason Smith; his sister, Jennie; his brother, Jason; his grandparents, Edwin & Gloria Jones and Harold & Kathy Giacomini. He was especially close to his aunt, Bonnie Ballinghoff, his uncle, Hal Giacomini, Jr., and his godmother, Christine Setting. Chaz also leaves behind six nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A public visitation will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway) on Saturday, June 26, at 10:30am followed by a service at noon. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to Gift of Life. (www.giftoflife.org)
