Sexton, Aaron Enoch

Aaron E Sexton, age 95, formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 9th, 2021.

Aaron was born on April 26, 1926, in Lansing, North Carolina to Ada Sexton. Aaron had a challenging childhood as he was raised by a single mother in the Appalachia region during the Depression. Aaron moved to Delaware in the late 1940’s for employment with General Motors. While at General Motors, he worked on the assembly line and retired after 43 years. During this time, Aaron served in the Army during the latter part of the Korean War. Aaron’s first wife passed in the early 1970s, but God blessed him with a second wife, Kathy, whom he spent 46 years.

Aaron had a deep faith and love of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pike Creek, Delaware for over 50 years and enjoyed serving the congregation as an usher and trustee. Aaron enjoyed traveling with Kathy to places across the country and frequently reflected on their visit to Alaska. Aaron enjoyed time with his family and friends and was always ready for a game of Rummi or Pinochle. Aaron was an unassuming man who was content with life’s simple pleasures. He loved Bluegrass music, collecting watches and his dog, Princess.

Aaron will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathleen and his four children: Sharon (Dave) Dunfee of Chatham, PA, Cindy Healy of Wilmington, De, Debbie (Blaine) Allen of West Grove, PA and Steve (Pam) Sexton of Brentwood, TNN, ten grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church in Pike Creek with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of remembrance be in the form of donations to Brandywine River Valley Hospice, Oxford PA.
