Hollinshead, Laura Jean (Goad)

Laura J. Hollinshead, was peacefully received into Her Savior’s presence late afternoon May 7th, 2021 with her husband and children, youngest sister and third oldest grandson at her side. She was the fourth child of eight of Alfred L. and Joanne M. (Hartman) Goad, growing up in Gaithersburg, MD. She was married to Rev. Jay K. Hollinshead her only husband for 42 years, and without exaggeration she was renowned as an excellent daughter in her birth family, the true love of her husband, the greatest mom, very successful homeschooling teacher, the “best Nana ever,” a perfect Pastor’s wife and lifelong quilter. She was just all around a godly, giving, serving, family-centered fun person!

She was preceded in death by her youngest brother Andy, and her mother and father.

Laura is survived by her husband, Jay, her five children, Matthew J. (Stephanie), Melodie C. Reilly (Todd), Michael K. (Stefanie), Mark S. (Melissa), Martin P. (Leah), and sixteen grandchildren (in order of birth), Todd, Jr., Jeremiah, Nathan, Caleb, Abigail, Andrew, Noah, Hannah, Elijah, Micah, Jonah, Molly, Judah, Makayla, Eleanor, and Julia, as well as, her many siblings, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Services will be held Saturday May 15th: 9:00AM Graveside Family Service at Silverbrook Cemetery 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington DE, followed by the 10:30 AM General Public Memorial Worship Service at Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE,

Donations in Laura’s memory may be made to the “LJH Fund for Cosmetic and Nutritional Resources for Breast Cancer Patients.” Make checks payable to: Deacons Fund of CFC, Inc., sent to Community Fellowship Church, 200 Armstrong Avenue, Wilmington, DE, 19805. These independent fund accounts are completely separate from the church budget.
