Rowe, James M. "Jim" Sr.

Jim passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 4, 2021. He was born in Wilmington, DE on February 25, 1937 to Rose M. and Dennis A. Rowe. He attended grade school at St. Joseph on the Brandywine and graduated from A.I. DuPont Class of 1955. He was predeceased by his mother, Rose M. Rowe and father, Dennis A. Rowe.

Jim is survived by his partner and love of his life, Maryann Barrett, with whom he shared many happy years. They had many enjoyable trips which included fishing and relaxing on their boat at Bay City. He was a member of Oak Grove Senior Center. He is survived by his son Jim Jr. (Donna), Linda McConnell (Paul), Suzanne Lizzul (Norman), Diane Herr (Ed); 2 grandsons, Andrew and Sean McConnell, and his brother Dennis A. Rowe, Jr. Also surviving is Maryann’s family, Michael Barrett and family, Sharon Barrett, Leeann Merrill and family, Nancy Kowalski and family and Goddaughter Lisa Gulla.

Jim served his country in the Air National Guard. He worked for Delmarva Power & Light Gas Distribution for 37 ¹⁄₂ years, retiring in 1994. Jim was a humble, hard-working man who was kind and generous and loved his family. He will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held on Monday May 10 from 5-7 at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May 11 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd. Wilmington 19807. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Masks are required and Covid restrictions will be observed.
