Ammerman, M. Ann

Wilmington- M. Ann Ammerman, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on April 1, 2021.

She was born in Wilmington on April, 2, 1928, where she grew up, while also spending part of her youth with loving family in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Ann graduated from Wilmington High School in 1946. After graduating, Ann worked for the News Journal Paper Company. It was always her desire to have a family, so in 1950 she left the working world to begin her life as a devoted wife and mother. Ann was a spiritually devoted member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for over 70 years. Her husband of 60 years, James, preceded her in death. During Ann’s long active life, she greatly enjoyed swimming, gardening, painting and tai chi. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them over for fun weekend sleep overs and doing arts and crafts.

Ann is survived by 2 children, her daughter Sharon Price and her family, daughter Brittany Washburn (Brian) and son Caleb, and daughter Meghan Burton (Michael) and daughter Olivia, step daughter Kelly Simpson (Carl), along with their children Logan, Macey, Aubrey, Torey and Sadey.

Ann’s son Stephen (Sonia) and his family, son Matthew Ammerman (Katie) and son Carter and daughter Kaia and son Timothy Ammerman. Ann and Jim were also loving surrogate parents, to Vinh and Lang Diep and their 3 children, Kim (Michael), Emily and Irene (Michael) and their son Andrew.

A memorial service will be held on May 8, 2021 at 10AM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 1301 N Broom St. Wilmington, DE 19806. Services will be held in accordance with the current health directives, wearing masks, social distancing and capacity requirements. Burial will be private.
