Laura Louise Alexander of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on April 7, 2021, at the age of 57.
Laurie is survived by her parents Crystal Johnston Smith of Flat Rock, North Carolina, and Robert L. Alexander of Asheville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her stepfather Charles W. Smith. She will be greatly missed by her sister and best friend Leslie D. Alexander of Claymont, Delaware; stepsister Kimberly Hibbard (Jim) of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepbrother Michael A. Smith of Asheville, North Carolina, and many extended family members.
After graduation from Central York High School in York, Pennsylvania, Laurie continued her education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1985 with a B.A. Her studies continued at Widener University where she completed paralegal certification. Her career as a paralegal with DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, spanned nearly 28 years.
Laurie was an avid reader who collected favorite authors. She was always ready for a game of volleyball, walking in her neighborhood and family beach vacations at Hilton Head. Her favorite trip included sightseeing in Banff and Jasper in Canada.
A private celebration of life will be held in western North Carolina near Laurie’s hometown.
