Anne B. Houghton, age 99 years young, passed away on February 24, 2021.
She was born in Wilmington, DE, on October 13, 1921 to Alec and Frances (Kowalski) Grodzicki. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School and worked at the Danforth Drug Company where she met her late husband Bernard J. Houghton, Jr. She retired from the former John Wanamaker Store in Wilmington.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Robert) Hanson and Kate (Phillip) Becker. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren who affectionally called her “MAWU” and they all brought her much joy. She loved traveling and family get togethers. She was an active member through most of her 90’s at the Claymont chapter of AARP. She most recently resided at Forward Manor where she enjoyed many friends, root beer floats and activities—especially a winning bingo card. She was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for sixty years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 9th beginning at 11:00 AM, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will be private.
