Wayne Donald Zipse passed away unexpectedly on February 8th, 2021, at the age of 64.
He was born in Camp Lejune, NC, to Jeanette Zipse and the late Donald Wayne Zipse. Wayne valued few things more than spending time outdoors and having quality time with family and friends. Wayne had a heart for adventure. Throughout the year you could find him parked on a beach with a fishing pole in hand. If he wasn’t at the beach, he was camping with friends, canoeing, or enjoying Saturday Night Live. Whether it was bringing a smile to those around him, playing a good prank on someone, or sharing a story, connecting with others brought him the most joy in life. In his later years he found a combination of his passions in driving for a limo company, where he made new friends and shared stories. He had pride in being an uncle to his nephew Andrew and niece Nicole and his close friends’ children. Later in life he found even more happiness in becoming a great uncle to Abigaile, where he ensured he never missed a chance to spend time with her.
Wayne is survived by his mother Jeanette, his brother David Zipse (and Suzanne Snajdr), and sister Donna Vernon (and Mike Hahn), his nephew Andrew Vernon (and Carissa Vernon), and his niece Nicole Lyon (and Caleb Lyon) and his great niece Abigaile Vernon.
A burial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, February 15th, at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19805 and a memorial service will be held in the spring. To send condolences visit: www.mccreryandharra.com
