Krista Berneike, age 58, passed away peacefully February 3, 2021 at Delaware Hospice Center after a long battle with cancer.
Krista was born to the late Richard and Martha Berneike. She attended Watkinson School and graduated from Wheelock College in Boston. Krista began her teaching career at Renbrook School in Connecticut, later moving to Delaware where she taught 2nd grade at Sanford School for over 30 years where she most recently helped develop and implement a three-year-old preschool program. In her spare time Krista enjoyed going to the beach, riding her bike, trips with her Sanford girlfriends, and most of all being surrounded by family.
Krista is survived by her brother Rick Berneike (Cheryl), sister Beth McBride (Jim); nieces and nephews Ben Berneike (Kate), Daniel McBride (Katie), Ryan McBride, and Emily McBride; and great nephew and niece Chase and Madison Berneike.
Burial will be private. A celebration of life is being planned for early spring at Sanford School. Details to follow.
