Balliet, Alma Elizabeth (Rinehimer)

Alma Elizabeth (Rinehimer) Balliet, age 98, of Wilmington, DE went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2021.

Alma was the youngest of 5 children born to Ernest Davenport and Bessie (McDonnell) Rinehimer in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The family spent summers at their cottage on Nuangola Lake, PA where Alma was an avid swimmer. It was not unusual for her to swim the entire lake from one side to the other and back again.

Alma was a graduate of Meyers High School (Wilkes-Barre, PA) and Wyoming Seminary Secretarial School (Kingston, PA). She married Fred Harlan Balliet May 8, 1943 and together they raised 3 children. Their family grew to include 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Outside the home Alma held retail positions at Mila Fabrics and Sears before retiring as a secretary from GE Credit. Alma was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, DE She enjoyed bingo, reading, word searches and jigsaw puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and crafting and along with her husband and daughters participated in craft shows throughout Delaware. Alma was a faithful and loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles- even when the seasons were less than successful.

Alma was predeceased by her siblings, husband of 57 years, Fred, their daughter Sandra Jane (Balliet) Iudica, and grandchildren Richard and Jennifer Balliet.

Survivors include son Mark Frederick (Alberta) Balliet of Nuangola, PA, daughter Debra Anne Balliet of Wilmington, DE, and son-in-law Ross C. Iudica of Rehoboth Beach, DE as well as many grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Road,
