Marilyn B. Hetrick, 94, advanced to heaven on September 2, 2022.
She was born on April 9, 1928 in Twin Valley in northern Minnesota and was the youngest of five children of Cora and Sidney Bentley. She met George H. Hetrick on a blind date and they wed on February 10, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY. They moved to Wilmington in 1955 where their house was the cornerstone of loving memories, of lives well lived as a devoted couple and dedicated parents. They faithfully attended Concord Presbyterian Church and later joined Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and signing in the choir.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings (Onie, Gladys, Sybil and Ardys), her husband George and grandson, Kevin J. Hetrick. She is survived by her son Thomas Hetrick (Cynthia), daughters Mindy Hetrick and Laurie Hanson (Gary), four grandchildren, Brett, Chad, Kearstin and Chelsea, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn lived a life centered on faith, family and friends. She strove to be an inviting, welcoming hostess to her home and offered comfort and love to all the lives she touched.
A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
