Richard “Dick” Dornich, 80, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2022.
Dick was born on April 27, 1942 in Phillipsburg, NJ, son of the late John and Ethel (Shramko) Dornich. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School Class of 1960.
Dick was a loving husband, supportive father and treasured grandfather.
He worked many years for S.I. Handling Systems in Forks Township before beginning his entrepreneurial career. Dick and his wife owned and operated inns and motels in Virginia, the Poconos, Dewey Beach and Cape Cod. He loved meeting new people and established lifelong friendships with guests and fellow inn owners.
His greatest joy was time spent with his grandsons, Charlie and Colin. He enjoyed their visits to Delaware, taking them to historic landmarks and watching them play golf. He looked forward to weekly calls from his nephew Ryan to share stories and discuss current events. We will all miss his smile, stories and wonderful sense of humor.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Charlotte, his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl & Patrick Brill of Wellesley, MA., grandsons, Charlie and Colin and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. He is predeceased by his dear brother Robert Dornish. He is also survived by his brother Barry Dornich.
In keeping with Dick’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
