Raymond “Ray” R. Hiltner, age 60, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side on July 5, 2022.
He was born in Chester, PA and was raised in Wilmington, DE. Ray was the son of the late Vivian (Ayres) and Charles Hiltner, Sr. He graduated from John Dickinson HS in 1980. Ray was an Eagle Scout in Troop 50 out of St. Phillips Lutheran Church.
Ray was an auto technician for many years. He enjoyed woodwork and obviously working on cars, even at home. Ray loved animals. He had many pets throughout his life. Missy is the current dog. Ray loved her very much. Missy provided great comfort to him especially in the last two months.
Ray is survived by his wife of 37 years, Roseann; twin daughters, Heather and Amber. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Charlie.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, from 1-2 pm, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington where a memorial service will follow at 2pm. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Brandywine Valley SPCA New Castle Campus or Voluntary Services at the Wilmington Veterans Hospital, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19805.
