Marion A. Ward, 84, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Marion will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Marion was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Gordon and Annie Melody. She was a driver for Boulden and the State of Delaware. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bowling with the girls, reading, gardening and camping with her grandchildren. Marion also enjoyed baking, cake decorating, sewing, crocheting and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James T. Ward, son James T. Ward Jr., step daughter, Julie Polson and siblings, Hugh Melody, Jeanette Snyder and Ralph Melody.
Marion is survived by her children, Gordon F. Ward, Preston A. Ward, Bryan Adam Ward (Deborah) and Mitchell L. Ward (April), 14 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and 8 great- great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Brackenville Center for their care and compassion. A service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
