Pergolini, Jean (Fowler)

Jean Marie Pergolini (nee: Fowler) age 66, passed away suddenly, with her family by her side, on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of Jean (Pollice) and John Fowler. Forever a Goretti Girl, Jean graduated with honors from St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School in 1974 and went on to work for the U.S. federal government at Quartermasters for several years before ending up at DuPont Pharmaceuticals for nearly two decades.

After their wedding in 1984, Jean and her husband John sought to settle down and build a family in Wilmington, Delaware. Jeanie enjoyed the sun and the beach and, during her later years, split her time between South Florida and finally achieved her dream of owning a home down the Jersey shore. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, exceptional friend and, despite her allergies, a fanatical pet mom – to Adam, Eve, Fuzzy, Fuzzball, Daisy and her grandbaby Bruno.

Jeanie thrived on entertaining! Anyone who stepped into her presence immediately felt her larger than life personality and was welcomed as family. Her passions included cooking for others - especially serving her signature meatballs; dressing in the most bold and vibrant fashions for any or no occasion - which she would always share how great a deal she had gotten at Marshall’s; and decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas, to bring joy and brighten the spirits of all her friends and family… and those traveling along on i-95.

Jeanie loved to travel, especially for the family’s annual Disney World trip, a passion which lives on through her sons. As the ultimate music aficionado, she could best anyone in any genre of “Name That Tune”, and when it came to dancing, she would turn any floor into the disco floor – from the living room to the kitchen to the Elks Lodge Pool.

Jean was a two-time breast cancer survivor for over 31 years and is survived by her husband of 38 years, John Pergolini; 2 sons, John Christopher (34) and Michael Christopher (27), sister Carol Fowler, her beloved Bruno and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 6-8 PM at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pk, Wilmington, DE.
