Marguerite “Peggy” Battaglia Deery passed away on May 22, 2022 after a courageous 27-year battle with breast cancer. She was born in Wilmington Delaware on April 2, 1953 to Joseph and Clara (Boleslawski) Battaglia.
Peggy grew up in Elsmere, but later got to travel the world. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Land where she was baptized in the River Jordan. She married Steve Deery in 1978. And 1982. And 2003. She loved travel, dining out, and board games. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Battaglia Jr; and her stepfather, Dave Boguszewski. She is survived by her husband, Steve Deery; daughters, Angela Wise (Anthony); Peggy Budan (Michael Sr); Laura Deery (Mike); Robin Martin (Artie); Kelly Deery-Morton (Mark); her son, Steven Deery Jr (Susan); 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Joann Conaway (Joe); nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be at 9am on Friday, May 27 at New Life Alliance Church (653 East Chestnut Hill Road Newark, DE 19713), followed by a service at 10am. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery following the service. Peggy requests that you wear bright or pastel colors. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the New Life Alliance Church.
