Smith, Ashley Ramona

Ashley Ramona Smith, age 28, transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2021.

Ashley was an eclectic soul with an infectious smile and contagious laugh that touched the lives of whomever she met. She was the epitome of innocence and her only boyfriend throughout her life was Spongebob Squarepants. Her love of family, food, music, a rocking chair, and a swing brought her strength and comfort through the years. On any given day, she could be found outside on her swing listening to music through her headset. She looked forward to family functions not only to see her family, but to partake in the bounty of food that was usually laid out.

Even though school sometimes was a challenge for her, she loved every minute of it. From the time spent at Richardson Park Learning Center to time spent at Central School, she had fond memories. She still remained close with her childhood best friend, Nathaniel. Several of her Facebook friends were staff from the Central School. Her family greatly appreciates all the love and support from her Facebook friends. They meant the world to her. She looked forward to their daily posts.

Being born with a heart defect, Ashley spent a lot of time in different children’s hospitals. She was an amazing patient. Through good times and bad, she always was polite, positive and made new friendships everywhere she went. For the last 12 years, she went to Nemours Children’s Hospital for her cardiac care. There, the staff became like family to her and her family. This was comforting to her considering all the frequent visits she had to make. We would like to thank everyone at Nemours for taking such good care of Ashley and for all the support we received.

Ashley will be dearly missed by her parents, Jim and Christel Smith; brothers, Craig (Jen) and Charles; grandmother, Gayle Dillon and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as her dog, Lily.

All services for Ashley will be private however, the service will be live streamed. The link for the live stream:
