Schofield, Linda

Linda “Mom-Mom” Schofield, age 74 of Wilmington, DE passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 surrounded by family.

Linda enjoyed reading, playing the slots at Delaware Park, going to dinner with her long-time friends; Marie, Sandy, JoEllen, Gerri and Eileen and having holiday parties for everyone to gather. She loved supporting her grandchildren in everything they did and always looked forward to their yearly vacation to the Outer Banks.

Linda’s greatest passion besides her family was providing day care to many children for over 30 years. She loved being a bonus Mom-Mom to all her kids. Their families became our family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for us or them. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents George Dougherty and Gertrude Denney, her devoted husband Marvin, her loving son Ricky as well as her siblings and their spouses; Ronald and Eloise Dougherty, Victor and Elaine Cirillo, her brothers George (Joe) Dougherty, Eddie Dougherty, Paul Dougherty and Les Dougherty, sister Marian Dougherty, brother-in-law Samuel Richardson and nephews Shane Richardson, Wesley Wadman, John and Brian Dougherty.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Marvin (Marty) Schofield Jr. (Lori), daughters Tammy DeStafney (Chris) and Rebecca Schofield along with the loves of her life, her grandchildren Lexi, Madison, Justin, Jared and Kaelyn, her loving and devoted sister Karen (Kay) Richardson, sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Dougherty, cherished friends Pat Godshall and Dot Latini and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her care team- CarolAnn, Sherwin, Debbie, Deb, Miki, Sarah, Eva and Michelle (they were the absolute best and loved our feisty mom) along with Seasons Hospice.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 5th from 10-11:30 AM at St. Helena’s Parish, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery on Wednesday, October 6th at Noon.

In lieu of flowers, an educational trust is being established for her granddaughter Kaelyn Schofield. Donations can be made payable to Kaelyn Schofield and mailed c/o Tammy DeStafney to 1108 Dardel Dr. Wilmington, DE 19803.
