Heaven Sent!

Joan, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served, on June 30, 2021. She graduated from Claymont High School and West Chester Teacher’s College. Joan taught for 14 years at The Christian Academy in Brookhaven, PA. After retirement, she continued to teach the Bible in nursing homes, day cares, and a women’s Bible study for many years.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Curtiss; her parents, Aubrey and Sara Michener; her brother, Aubrey; and sisters, Ruth Hopewell and Mary Burns. She is survived by her son, Curtiss (Becka) Wagner of Jamestown, OH; grandson, Bryan (Katie) Wagner; great-grandchildren, Violet, Lyla, and Nora; grandson, Scott (Amy) Wagner; great-grandchildren, Mia and Dominic; and grandson, Kyle (Emily) Wagner; her daughter, Cathy Quigley of West Chester, PA; granddaughters, Ashlyn (Jon) and Shay; son, Carl Wagner (Catherine) of Harwood, MD; granddaughters, Aubrey and Lauren; and daughter, Cyndi Wagner of Arlington, VA.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9th at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Rd, Wilmington DE. Calling hours for the family and friends is 9:00 am and the service will be conducted at 10:00 am by Pastor Todd Johnson, Dr. Curtiss Wagner, and Dr. Gayle Ryle. For those unable to attend, the service will be streamed on www.brandywine.church then hit “watch live”.

Interment will be at Union Hill Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square, PA following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Brandywine Valley Baptist Church or Cru account 2870620 for Middle East Bibles at cru.org.
