WILMINGTON - Jean Smith Wright, age 95, passed away quietly, on Monday, May 31, 2021. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Alfred B. Moore and Bertha E. (Taylor) Moore. Jean graduated from Alexis I. DuPont H.S., where she was involved in numerous school functions. After graduation, in 1944, she used her advanced secretarial skills, to work for The Travelers Insurance Company. In 1947, she married a fellow classmate, Hobert S. Smith, of Montchanin, DE.
In earlier years, Jean enjoyed playing piano, singing, decorating her home and spending cherished moments with her family and friends. Jean was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, Roselle, DE. and dedicated herself to teaching Sunday School, Summer Bible School and lead the M.Y.F, for several years. She was loved and admired, by her family and friends for her steadfast beliefs, gentle spirit, listening ear and charming giggle.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Hobert S. Smith and her recently deceased husband, Lewis E. Wright. She is survived by her children, Karen S. Corridori (Bill) and Gregg E. Smith (Anne); grandchildren, Brian McConlogue, Sherry Fagin (Michael) and Adam Smith (Christine) and great grandchildren, Noah and Miles Fagin and Dylan Smith.
