Newark-Harry Cooke, age 68, passed away suddenly on April 22, 2021. He was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Harold Cooke Sr. and Katherine Cooke. Harry attended Salesianum School and graduated in 1971.
He was an accountant for the US Postal Service and also an Insurance Agent. When Harry was younger he played golf semiprofessionally. One of his fondest stories to tell, was hitting a hole in one on the 13th hole at the Newark Country Club during a tournament. Harry was a member of St. John-Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he worshiped up until the time of his passing.
Harry’s greatest source of happiness came from his son Sean, whom he is survived by. Harry is also survived by his brother Paul, and preceded in death by his two brothers, Mike and Kevin.
A viewing will begin at 10 am on Thursday, May 6 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, where a funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery. Services will be held in accordance with the current health directives, wearing masks, social distancing and capacity requirements.
