Roger was a quiet soul, calm demeanor and pleasant presence. He was never outspoken so when he did speak, one would listen because they were words of wisdom. He was a Game Warden for 30 years and received several awards for his outstanding service. He loved to travel and would always take the backroads rather than the highway which made going on a road trip with him a magical adventure.
Roger Dee Hensley was born August 20, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas. He passed on to the next step of his journey on April 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife Josephine Hensley, son Don Hensley and wife Debi, daughter Sue Hensley Young and husband Chris, step-daughter Mona Talvacchio and husband Joe, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, two nephews Mark Hawthorne and wife Cindy and their family and John Hawthorne and wife Lisa and their family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lorelton Foundation, 2200 W. 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 in memory of Roger Hensley and would be greatly appreciated. This was his “home” away from “home” where he was loved and created many fond memories for their staff.
