Catherine ‘Cathee’ H. Wiedenmann, 88, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2021 at Christiana Care Hospital following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Earleville, MD to the late John and Margaret Husfelt, Cathee was preceded in death by her brothers Benjamin Husfelt, Henry Husfelt, and John Husfelt, and sisters Violet Jones and Jean Fleming. She is survived by her children, Russell Wiedenmann (Shirlann), Robert Wiedenmann (Colleen), Richard Wiedenmann (Linda), and Karen Drake (Carson).
She was employed as a supervisor with the DuPont Company, and later, after raising children, worked as a telephone receptionist at Slocomb Co. from where she retired.
She was a long-time member of the Bear Homemakers Club as well as a member of the Newark Senior Center. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she enjoyed cruising, swimming at the Senior Center, playing the slots, cooking, and reading. Cathee was ‘Mom’ to many, ‘Gee’ to her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a friend to all. She always had a special place in her heart for her “grand-furbabies.”
To her family, she was the light of their lives and truly an inspiration to all. She was a strong, selfless person and always happy to lend an ear.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Zion Methodist Cemetery in Cecilton, MD.
