Wilmington-Edward F. Twardus, age 82, passed away on February 12, 2021.
Born in Wilmington, De on April 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank and Florence (Jablonski) Twardus.
Ed, along with his brother Bill, owned and operated Twardus Produce on Maryland Ave in Wilmington for many years.
Ed looked forward to football season each year and now and then, enjoyed making a wager on a game. He was also a lifelong fan of thoroughbred horse racing. After retiring, Ed enjoyed the time he spent with his brothers, when weekday mornings they would meet at his place for breakfast before starting the day.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and Eugene and his companion of many years, Elizabeth (Betty) Herrmann. He is survived by his daughter Vickie Weaver (George Sr.) of Bear, his grandson George, his brothers Francis, William and Richard, his sister Mary, all of Wilmington and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE on Wednesday February 24, at 11 am, where friends may call after 10am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Services will be held in accordance with the current health directives, wearing masks, social distancing and capacity requirements.
Ed always enjoyed a fun time and a good laugh and would want friends to remember him with a toast in his honor.
