Jones, Dyanne

Dyanne R. Jones, age 76, of Wilmington passed away on January 31, 2021 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Dyanne, the youngest of threechildren, was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Harry and Ruth Wilkinson. She attended AI Dupont High School, where she was a cheerleader and graduated with the class of 1963.

Dyanne was selfless, kind, energetic, and fun-loving; she lit up every room with her bright eyes and beautiful smile. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, spending time with her family, and helping others. Her giving heart knew no bounds; from packing countless numbers of meals so school children had something to eat on the weekends to donating personalized items to children in orphanages,she consistently took action to help others. Amongst her long list of talents, she was a seamstress and owned a bridal shop.

Dyanne was predeceased by her husband, Richard Jones, with whom she fostered 128 children over the years. Dyanne and Richard adopted seven children of their own—Derek, Lane, Marquise, Tellis, Shawn, Teri, and Michael.

Dyanne is survived by her brother, William Wilkinson (Darlene) of Pine Grove, PA and their children, Bill and Ben; her brother, Harry Wilkinson (Sharon) of Newark; her son, David Haldeman (Kari) and her grandchildren, Kevin and Kristin, of Middletown; her daughter, Denise Vance (Jeffrey), of Wilmington.

Funeral services to be held at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, February 12th at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy.). Visitation will begin at 9:45 a.m. Due to COVID restrictions, interment at Delaware Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
