Robert P. Williamson, age 78, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
He was born in Hockessin, DE and was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Williamson. Robert graduated from Wilmington High School in 1960. He proudly served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany.
Robert worked for General Motors, Boxwood Road Plant, where he was a HVAC Technician retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service. While at GM, he invented a refrigerant recover machine saving General Motors millions and also saving the environment.
Robert enjoyed golfing, skiing and playing old records, from Classical to Jazz to Rock-n-Roll. Even more, he loved to dance.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary (Stidham) Williamson; 4 children, Matt Williamson and his wife Amy, Glenda Williams and her husband Donnie, Scott Whann and his wife Jewel and Donnie Whann, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert “Danny” Williamson and 2 brothers, Charles Williamson and Johnny Williamson.
Due to Covid, services and burial will be held privately.
