In loving memory of Gertrude Ann (Crossin) Van Lenten, 87, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who died Jan. 23, 2021.
Born in Hazleton, PA to Louis Henry Crossin and Anne (McGheehin) Crossin, Gertrude grew up in Kearny, NJ, and graduated from Our Lady Queen of Peace High School and St. Elizabeth’s College with a BA in Biology. Upon graduation, she worked in a lab at Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals and later at Dun & Bradstreet as a customer service representative. Most of her life was spent raising her 5 children and being an active member of the Catholic church, most recently St. Thomas of Villanova.
She was married to the love of her life, Donald Henry “Duffy” Van Lenten, in August 1958 until he died in 2002. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Ann, Cynthia (Steve Crowley) and Claudia (Erik Underhill), her adoring grandchildren Anna Van Lenten Crowley, Maximilian Henry and Simon Donald Lux, and Hugh and Ellery Underhill, and her brother Hugh Crossin and sister Marianne McBride. She was predeceased by her daughter Laura (Van Lenten) Dougherty, son David Henry and first granddaughter Olivia Crowley.
