Ruth Ann Steele Williams, 97 died Monday January 18, 2021 at The Kutz Home, Bellefonte, DE.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923 to Robert Steele and Mary Deering Steele, she was the second of five siblings.
Ruth is survived by son Michael R. Williams and wife Susan of Wilmington; daughter Patricia J. Williams Kinney of Kitty Hawk NC; sister Eileen Manchisi of St Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Howard G. Williams, sisters Marie Urell, Dorothy Klein, brother Robert Steele Jr and son-in-law Walter A. Kinney.
Ruth was an artist and teacher. After studying fashion illustration, she went on to become a textile designer for Agnes B. Dillon in New York until her “whirlwind affair” with the love of her life Howard (Hank).
She was devoted to her family and all children. Her career included teaching special needs children at Meadowbrook School, art at Ferris School for boys in Wilmington and Sunday School at Christ Church, Greenville DE for twenty years. All the children in the neighborhood would love to visit Mrs. Williams. Christmas gifts for family children were always books.
She was interred next to her husband in a private ceremony at Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
