Wilmington - Louise Hassell Tinurelli Andrews passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at the age of 96.
She was born in Windwardside, Saba, Netherlands Antilles, to the late Eugenius Hassell and Mercedes Leverock. Louise and her family emigrated to San Nicolas, Aruba, where she went to school and considered her home.In Aruba, she met her future husband, the late Fred Tinurelli, who worked for the Lago Refinery. Louise and Fred were married in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Pennsylvania, Aruba, and Venezuela before finally settling down in Claymont, Delaware. After Fred passed, Louise married the late Emmett Andrews. Louise was predeceased by her two children Madelyn Tinurelli Jeffery (Ray Jeffery) and George Tinurelli. She is survived by former daughter-in-law Georgann Jackson, her grandchildren Jason Tinurelli (Jay), Angela Szewczuk, Danielle Trunnell (Chris), and Larry Szewczuk (Christina), and her six great-grandchildren: Geoffrey, Emma, Brayden, Gabe, Ethan, and Samantha.She is also survived by her sister Cornelia Sloterdijk (Benny) in Aruba and many nieces and nephews in Aruba, the US, and Europe.
Louise worked at IBEW Local 313 for over 40 years until retiring and enjoyed the company of her friends and co-workers at the union. Louise was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of Holy Rosary and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Louise loved talking about her home in Aruba, shopping, eating candy, being with her family, and enjoying quiet time independently.
The funeral and interment at Cathedral Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Faithful Friends,
