Corrigan, Nancy Lee Sutherland (nee: Atkinson)

Nancy Lee Sutherland Corrigan (nee: Atkinson), age 85, of Glen Mills, PA, formerly of Wilmington, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 9, 2020.

She was born in Chester, PA and was the daughter of the late Virginia (Mitchell) and James W. Atkinson. Nancy graduated from Chester High class of 1953.

Her first job was as a secretary in the office for the Chester Ferry. Her last and favorite job/ministry was Secretary at The Christian Academy for 29 years, retiring in 1990. At The Christian Academy she was a member of the Mother’s Club and the Hearth Sorority. In her own words, “I loved every minute of working there”.

Nancy was a resident of Maris Grove. She was a member of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church. Nancy was well loved in the Tri-State area and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered as being gracious, always giving to others, creative, encouraging, kind, and for being a GREAT Prayer Warrior. What a legacy she left for all who know her.

Nancy’s first husband of 30 years, Roy F. Sutherland died in 1985. Her second husband of 22 years, Gerald Lee Corrigan died in 2012.Nancy is survived by her three children, Mark Sutherland, Ruth Menard and her husband Charles and Jane Bostwick; step-children; David Corrigan and his wife Sharon, Jane Webster and her husband Brad and Daniel Corrigan and his wife Cynthia, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren (and one on the way); a sister, Dianne Lindsay of Florida, and a large extended/blended family that she loved, including Ambica and Thomas Chacko. Nancy was also precede in death by her sister, Marilyn Silva and her husband Charles and brother-in-law, Herbert “Bud” Lindsay.

Mark, Ruth and Jane would like to thank all the family/caregivers that allowed Mom to remain in her home and brought much joy to her life in her last years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, at 3pm at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Wilmington. A private burial was held in December.
