Donna Jean Steever, 70, of Newark, DE, born on June 7, 1949 in Alliance, Ohio, passed away on May 23, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in her daughter’s home surrounded by loved ones.
Donna married Keith Steever on April 19, 1979 and began to build a beautiful life in Millville, NJ. She spent many years as a restaurant manager/owner. As her daughters Sheila and Renee grew older, she wanted to be more available to them and her granddaughter Candis, and so she embarked on a new journey as a childcare provider in her home. She had a passion for taking care of others, which made her an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother. She cared deeply and honestly for her family and neighbors, a caregiver to all.
Even as her health rapidly declined, her only worry was about the future of her family. Her family has individually promised that she has equipped them with all the tools and love they needed to make her wishes come true. And with those promises, she was at peace.
Donna leaves behind her daughters, Sheila Bates (Ken) of Smithfield, VA, and Renee Canady (Glenn) of Newark, DE, her grandchildren, Candis Sanchez-Steever, Ethan Bates, Owen Bates, Laura Canady, Chrissy Canady, and Sasha Canady, her brothers, Ray Dearth (Gail), Darrel Dearth (Linda), and Joey Campbell, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her beloved husband, Keith Steever, her parents, Floyd Dearth and Phyllis Frantz (nee Baker), Harry Frantz, her greatest fatherly influence, and her brothers, Steven Dearth and John Campbell, preceded her in death.
…..we love you forever and wish that you rest in peace.
Services will be held at a later date due to Covid-19.
