Wilmington-James “Jim” H. Andes, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2020.
He was born in Drexel Hill, PA and is the son of the late Clemens and Grace (Hoover) Andes. Jim graduated from Haverford HS in 1953 and earned an associate degree in engineering from Temple University.
He retired after 37 years from the DuPont Company, Experimental Station as an Engineering Physics Lab Technician in 2000.
He was a member of the Delaware National Guard for 3 years, then 3 more years with the Air National Guard. Jim was a member of the former Berea Presbyterian Church, now known as Good News Church (PCA), Hockessin, where he was a deacon and devoted much time to maintaining the property and building scenery for special events. He enjoyed square dancing with the former Pi-R-Squares dance club of Wilmington. Jim also enjoyed woodworking. He additionally served as an adult leader with Boy Scout Troop 528 (Grace Episcopal Church).
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Oates) Andes; a son, Creighton (wife Dana) of Frederick, MD; 2 grandchildren, Calvin and Megan. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother Clemens.

Burial will be private and a memorial service will be held later.
