Theodore Lambert Jr. of Wilmington DE. died (age 90) on April 6, 2020. A graduate of P.S. DuPont High School class of 1947, Ted married his sweetheart in 1950 who he adored. Their marriage was a visible display of God’s goodness for nearly 70 years. Ted loved his savior, Jesus Christ, and was quick to tell anyone of God’s grace in his life.
Ted was a leader in the Christian & Missionary Alliance church and later a member of Bethel Baptist church in north Wilmington. Ted is fondly membered for his Bible teaching. Ted served on the board for the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington and was past Chairman of the Kiwanis Norristown, PA chapter.
He was a member of the Delaware National Guard before pursuing his career on the Pennsylvania Railroad. When his interest turned to banking, he was employed by Wilmington Trust and WSFS. Several years later he became president of the Burton C Simon Savings & Loan in Philadelphia and retired from the New Castle County Economic Development Corporation where he assisted new businesses in Delaware.
Ted was a boating enthusiast and owned a few boats in his lifetime, including one he built with the help of his son. During those boating days he loved taking his family on trips up and down the Chesapeake Bay.
Ted was also a private pilot and member of the EAA (Chapter 240). He loved to fly planes, particularly to EAA fly-ins. Ted was a baseball fan, especially the Philadelphia Phillies. During his spare time he enjoyed the hobby of model railroading. He was also the author of two books on his family history. He was devoted to his family and could spend hours telling stories.
Ted is survived by his wife of 69 1⁄2 years Mildred Ann Lambert (Lynam), his son Theodore Lambert III (Selina), his two daughters, Diane Richwine (Dean) & Susan Hughes (William). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
