Iris Walsh, 89, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 18, 2020, surrounded by family.
Iris was born April 20, 1930, to the late Alice and Edward White of Wilmington, DE. She graduated from Brown Vocational High School in 1948. She worked as a ship to shore telephone operator for Bell Telephone, at Parklyn Pharmacy as a cashier, and then as a salesperson at JCPenney’s for 29 years, finishing her time there in the furniture department, receiving numerous accolades for top sales. Her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her brothers Edward, Carlton, and Louis White, and her sisters Anita Atkinson and Irma Crossan, and her son Mark Walsh.
She is survived by her daughters Michele Lehane and Kathy Conway, sons Michael and Gregory (Julie) Walsh; her grandchildren: Eric (Jill) League, Glen (Kari) League, Kimberly (Tim) Clark, Emily Walsh, and Gregory and Kevin Walsh; her great-grandchildren: Jenna and Jacob League; Henry and Anna League; Ashley, Hilary, and Ryley Clark; Mikayla, Jaylen and Emmitt Walsh; and Logan Walsh.
A viewing will be held on Monday February 24, from 9:30- 11am followed by a service for Iris at 11am. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
