Stephen C. Ferrara passed away suddenly on January 6, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 8, 1963 in Wilmington Delaware. He was nicknamed Speedy because his energy would not let him be still for long. He graduated from Newark High School in 1982. He was incredibly proud of his family and his 35 years working first at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark Delaware (UAW Local 1183) and then at the FCA Parts Depot in Tappan New York (UAW Local 3039). He most liked to spend his time at home with his family, and doting on his beloved granddaughter Cecelia, who is no doubt Papa’s Girl. While in New York he found a phenomenal group of friends that made it easier to be away from them. Rick’s Club American in Congers became his home away from home due to the company of great friends including Connie, John, Dayo, and Joann. Maria and Manny from FCA also made his days in New York a little brighter with their friendship and good food.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Sr., his brothers Anthony and Joseph Jr., and his Nephew Joseph. He is survived by his mother Josephine, his wife Kim, his daughters Angela and Teresa, his granddaughter Cecelia Mae, his siblings, Sam, Mike, and Nina, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Saint Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Rd, Newark, DE 19702 on Monday, January 13 from 10 to 12 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Interment will follow mass at All Saints Cemetery. Afterwards, the family extends an invitation to family and friends to join them at the house to commemorate Stephens’s life.
