James “Jim” Michael Grymes, 54, of Wilmington, DE, died of natural causes in his home on December 30, 2019. Jim was born, raised, and lived almost his entire life in the Wilmington area. He graduated from Thomas McKean High School and the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Jim had many interests, talents, and many more friends. His talent is seen throughout the county as his concept was used for the Red Clay Consolidated School District “little red schoolhouse” logo.
Jim also worked with such organizations as the Cranston Heights Volunteer Fire Department and the Wilmington and Western’s train robbery excursion event. He was part of a local band, 7 Stax, and was a union member of the local IATSE Local Union 284. Wherever he engaged, he made friends who were impressed by his intelligence, his kindness, his loyalty, and his sense of humor. He will be missed.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joyce Anne and John Grymes, Jr. He is survived by his brother, John “Jay” Grymes, III (Debi), of Baton Rouge, LA, and his sister, Joanna Grymes, of Jonesboro, AR.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
