Glen Mills - Andrew Stewart “Stew” Holveck, Jr. age 83, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2019.
Stew was born in Wilmington, DE, January 7, 1936 to Mildred McAdoo and Andrew Stewart Holveck, Sr. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1953 and the University of Delaware in 1958 with a BA in Music Education. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
He taught in the Middletown and Red Clay School districts for over 33 years and retired in 1991.
Stew served in the 287th US Army Band- Delaware National Guard and played saxophone and clarinet with the Serenaders in the 60’s-70’s and was a member of Delmelodians Dance Band.
Music continued with retirement from Red Clay when he taught private music lessons in Newark and played with the Limestone Clarinets.
In 2007 he left Delaware moved with his wife Jean to Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA, where he participated in the Silvertones musical group and played piano for happy hour. Stew enjoyed fishing and camping with his sons and loved his beach time. He was a lifelong lover of Jazz.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Anne Sutherland Holveck.
Stew is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jean ; brother Arthur Holveck; his sons Douglas Holveck (Leanne), Andrew Holveck (Debra), Jonathan Holveck (Colleen), his step children Carolyn Young, Marcia Silkroski (Albert), and Christopher Young; and grandchildren Heather, Douglas, Jr., Kelsey, Whitney, Brandon, Julianne, Mayala, Sydney, Caleb, Christina, Michael, and Matthew.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
