Edith F. Leuze (Pierce) (95) of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on October 27, 2019. Edith was born July 26, 1924 in Wilmington Delaware to George & Edith Pierce.
Edith was a loving homemaker, breast cancer survivor and member of the church where she sang in her church choir. For many years she loved to bowl and was on a bowling league at Pleasant Hill Lanes in Newport. She enjoyed singing, playing cards, Delaware park slots, watching her stories, Elvis movies, reading romance novels, gardening, going to the beach, buying 2lbs of fudge down the shore and telling Jim she only bought one (ha-ha) and dancing to Elvis whenever she could.
She loved Christmas time and Lilacs but foremost loved her family. Edith was a beloved Wife, Amazing Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-great Grandmother. She commanded respect, attention and excellence. Her children reflected on their mother’s many attributes and personal qualities.
Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50+ blissful years, James I. Leuze , two sisters Jean & Francis ”Franny” and her parents George and Edith Pierce. She is survived by her 2 children Linda (Gary) Gester of Elkton, MD, James “Jim” (Connie) Leuze of Wilmington, DE. 5 Grandchildren Kristy Tyree (Danny), Karen Sheets (Jason), Jimmy Leuze, Jacqueline Leuze & Gabrielle Leuze. 5 Great-grandchildren Joshua, Kayla, Brianna, Madison & Leilah. 1 Great-great grandchild Baylee, and many other relatives and friends. Edith lived a long joyful life and will be deeply missed by her family.
Funeral services will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington Delaware 19808) on Wednesday November 6. Friends and family may call beginning at 2:30 pm, services will begin at 3:30, and interment at Silverbrook Cemetery will follow.
