Kathleen M. Monaghan, age 71, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Season’s Hospice at Christiana Hospital on Monday, October 7, 2019.
Kathleen, Kate, Kit, Kitty was born to the late Helen (McClafferty) and John J. Monaghan, Sr. on November 8, 1947. She attended St. Joe’s on the Brandywine, St. Mary Magdalen, Springer Junior High School and graduated from Brandywine High School in 1967.
Kit worked at the NCC Free Library, Claymont Library and the Siegel JCC.
She was an active member of the parish of St. Mary Magdalen over the years.
She was not only our sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, she was an enigma and she lived life her way from beginning to end.
Kit was predeceased by her loving parents, beloved sister Helen T. Walther (Monaghan) and brother, John J. Monaghan, Jr.
Some of us that will miss her immensely are sister Rosemary McGrath and her husband Frank of Waltham , MA, another sister Ann and her husband Wayne Czarnota of Puerto Rico, nephew Michael P. Walther and wife Nicole and their children, Madelyn, Samantha and Michael R. of Claymont, DE and many cousins from the Dougherty, McClafferty and Monaghan sides. Her library friends, Floss, Peggy and Peggy D., friend Sharon Davis who predeceased her in 2011 and knew 30+ years and friend David Hopkins who she knew for 20+ years.
We are sorry to lose Kit, but none of us will ever be at a loss for stories because we knew her, lived with her, enjoyed life with her and loved her.
According to her wishes, there will be a Mass held when all can gather and celebrate her wonderful life and her ashes to be spread in the Ocean, which she loved dearly, at a date still to be determined.
Be at peace Little Lady. We will miss you, but know you are finally at peace and with loved ones that have left us along the years.
