Daniel Patrick Hoeftman, 65, went to his Father’s House suddenly on August 29, 2019. Dan was born in Regent Square, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 1954.
Dan graduated from Brandywine High School in 1973. He was active in Boy Scouts, wrestling, football and baseball. He earned a BS in Marketing and Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1977. Dan took postgraduate courses leading to employment in consulting. In addition, Dan was a counselor and manager at Governor Bacon Health Center. His corporate consulting took him from coast to coast for Fortune 500 businesses. Later, Dan worked for the State of Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health teaching graduating classes of law enforcement.
Dan enjoyed softball, Frisbee golf, the beach, the pool and music. He especially loved children, animals and his Bible. Dan lived life to his fullest.
Dan was a kind, loving, warm, gentle soul. He was cheerful and outgoing and never met a stranger. He was thoughtful and helpful by whatever means possible and always had words of encouragement.
Dan saw the good in everything. He remained joyous and lighthearted even in his own difficult times.
His smile, gentle and jovial manner will never leave us. His robust laughter will ring in our hearts forever.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Charles William Hoeftman; and brother, William Davis Hoeftman.
He is survived by his mother, Josephine Hoeftman Haigh (Lam); sisters, Susan E. Hamilton, and JoAnne Hoeftman-Cunningham (and her husband, Phillip Cunningham); nephew, Ryan C. Hamilton; and niece, Sarah A. Hamilton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Dan at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803). The viewing will begin at 10:00 am. Interment at All Saints Cemetery will immediately follow mass.
