Sara Angelo Scanlon, aged 77, died peacefully of kidney failure on October 17th, 2018. Sara was born in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of Anthony and Rita (Sowden) Angelo.
Sara attended Ursuline Academy before attending the University of Delaware. She married the love of her life, Dr. Martin W. Scanlon DDS, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in 1964 and raised her 2 sons in Hockessin. A fan of The Grand and John Philip Sousa, Sara was a true Delawarean.
Sara is predeceased by her loving husband, her parents, her sister, Phyllis Angelo, and her brother, Tony Angelo. She is survived by her son Martin Jr. and his wife Sabrina, her son Matthew, and her four grandchildren, Nathan, Kinsley, Will and Delaney. Sara is also survived by her sisters, Mariagnes Rash and Cecelia Taplin and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707 with a gathering at the church starting at 10:00 am. Graveside service will follow immediately at St. Patricks Cemetery, 1528 Ashland Clinton School Road, Hockessin DE.
