Edward R. Mason, 90, of Bridgeville, formerly of Wilmington, died January 30. Edward was a man devoted to serving his country and community. In 1949, immediately after his four year tour with the US Navy, Edward began his lifetime volunteer membership with the Mill Creek Fire Company, serving as a firefighter and later with the fire police. Much of his working career was spent with General Motors at the Boxwood Road plant, from which he retired in 1992 after 30 years of service. Edward was NASCAR fan, an avid fisherman, hunter, and NRA member who proudly obtained a concealed carry permit when he was 89 years old.
Edward was predeceased by his son, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his son, David; and many grandchildren.
Services for Edward will be held at 10:30 on February 9 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808). Visitation will begin at 9:30. Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice or to the Mill Creek Fire Company.
